Bible Reading: Job 1:1-4:21
Themes of Job:God is sovereign, even in the face of life's worst trials. He will not allow us to be tested beyon our ability to withstand whatever adversity confronts us. (LP)
Lessons from Job's Life:
- Knowing God is better than knowing answers.
- Pain is not always a punishment.
Daily Tidbits:
- Because our behavior matters, we need to live life one day at a time without complete answers to all of our questions. (Job 1:1)
- Any person committed to God should expect to be attacked by Satan. (Job 1:6-7)
- Although God loves us, believing and obeying Him do not shelter us from life's calamities. (Job 1:8, 12)
- While God may allow us to suffer He is never caught off guard by our troubles and is always compassionate. (Job 1:12)
- Don't limit God to your perspective and finite understanding of life. (Job 4:12-13)
This brings to mind the Facts of Life theme song "You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have the Facts of Life."
Today's troubles are opportunities for God to prove His faithfulness.
